Ways to Deal with an Excited dog: Dog Training Tips

Having an overly excited dog can be a bad thing for your home, we are here to help provide you with tips and a guide so you know how to keep your excited dog entertained while you are not at home.

You know, I keep trying to tell my owners that I’m bored and have all this energy that I need to get out, but they just don’t seem to get it! They take me for walks, sure, but I’m used to physical activity. Don’t get me wrong, I love walks. I could spend most of my day walking, other than eating and sleeping. But I also need to play and keep my mind active!

I love little tricks and puzzles and toys that make me think and figure it out, it’s such a fun reward for all my efforts. But my owners just give me a rope toy to chew on and tug with. Now, I love getting to play tug with my rope and I love getting to fetch it, but they keep trying to take it away from me to throw it.

I don’t want to give up my toy, I just want to fetch it. Is that so hard to understand? But at the end of the day, I’m just going to go somewhere and chew on it for a bit, but that won’t keep me entertained long enough.

A bored Dog: Can be Destructive

Okay, I admit it. I am a very excited dog with a ton of energy and I chew things and maybe go to the bathroom in the house, but it’s because I need something to do and no one really listens to me. I whine and bark and howl but my owners just tell me to shush. I’m tired of hearing “shhh” all the time, I want to play games.

They play games and watch the little people on the box and I want to do things like that to so I can feel stimulated. We were on a walk and I heard a Los Angeles puppy trainer say that to another friend’s owner.

I heard, from other dogs on the block and at the park, that they have toys that give out treats and snacks, but only if they figure out how to time it right and make the toy work for them. Well, I’m pretty smart and my mind is always working, I bet I could figure one of those out, rather than just lying around the house, bored out of my mind. What’s the worst that can happen? Will I get so tired from using my brain to get treats?

That’s what I heard from my friends in the area, at least. Also, I love treats and if I can get rewarded for using my noggin a bit, I’m going to be all the happier for it. You should check on that bright screen you stare into a bunch to see if there are any toys you think I’d like!

So come on, get me some toys that challenge me! I love playing tug with you, but I need some toys just for me to work out and get some treats for my efforts. If you don’t, I guess I’m gonna have to find some toys on my own – and your shoes have been looking like they’d be fun to gnaw on for a bit. Find ways to keep me entertained while you are away PLEASE!

Hope you take my advice, the advice of other pups, and of Orange County puppy trainers so that you don’t need to hit a department store for some new shoes.
